Water polo team takes third straight championship win
[img_inline align=”right” src=”http://padnws01.mcmaster.ca/images/game7action.jpg”]It wasn't the large margin of victory that was expected but, the McMaster Marauders women's water polo team captured its third straight OUA Championship, and its fourth in five years with an 11-10 overtime defeat of the York Lions on Sunday.
The Marauders took an early 3-1 lead, but the Lions clawed their way back into the game trailing 4-5 at half time.
McMaster pulled ahead at the end of the third quarter after Christine Walton notched two of her game high five goals. York responded in the fourth quarter, setting up Julie Csikos' tying goal with 29 seconds left in the game.
