Wanted: Your memories

A memory common to everyone who has studied at McMaster: writing exams. A new project by the Alumni Association aims to capture grads' favourite memories on an interactive map of campus.

Late nights at “the Rat.” Coffee breaks at Union Market. A faculty member who celebrated special occasions by galloping around campus on a horse.

The Alumni Association’s new #McMasterMemory project is only a few days old, but it’s already home to some interesting stories from McMaster’s past.

The project – an interactive map housed at mcmastermemory.ca – allows grads to attach their favourite memories to places on campus.

“Our past president George Gilmour used to warn graduating classes against becoming ‘alumni anonymous,’” says Karen McQuigge, director of Alumni Advancement. “That was the inspiration behind the #McMasterMemory project. We wanted to create a place where alumni can share their stories and photos.”

Alumni were sent special invitations to contribute to the project earlier this week.

They’re also able to contribute financially to the University, to help students create their own memories, through the site.

If you want to add your favourite memory from your time on campus to the #McMasterMemory project, you can do so here.
