Innovative digital technologies are increasingly important tools for nurturing the transmission of knowledge in developing regions. At this year's conference in Belgrade, which brings together library professionals and publishers, Trzeciak will speak on Web 2.0 and Beyond: Libraries Enabling Innovation.
“The McMaster University Library strives to be recognized as Canada's most innovative, user-centred, academic library,” explains Trzeciak. “I'm proud that we're establishing a reputation for innovation that is recognized worldwide.”
eIFL.net emphasizes several key strategies: they negotiate with publishers for reasonable prices for electronic information such as online databases; they advocate for intellectual property rights and copyright law reform; and to help support local knowledge sharing, they take advantage of open source software and open access publishing.
