Universities withdraw from Maclean’s university rankings

McMaster is one of 11 universities from across the country that have
signed a letter to Maclean's declining to assist in this year's
University Rankings exercise.

“We firmly believe that students and their parents need to have good information to make their choices about which is the right university for them and we are committed to providing that information. But the data must be reliable and useful and Maclean's misuse of data for rankings is misleading to students and their parents,” says McMaster President, Peter George. “As a public institution and as a research university, we cannot participate in a process that is so lacking in accountability and transparency.”
