Top honours for McMaster’s career services

McMaster University received top honours at the national conference for Canadian Association of Career Educators & Employers (CACEE), held in Ottawa, June 5-8, 2005.
Representatives from McMaster's career services departments received the Educational Institution Recognition Award. This award is offered annually to an educational institution in Canada that has shown exemplary support and contribution to CACEE at a national level.
In addition to the institutional awards, Anne Markey was recognized for 10 years of volunteer service and Gloria DiDiodato was recognized for 25 years of service. Markey is manager of Engineering Co-op & Career Services and the National Board Secretary and chair of the PD Committee. DiDiodato is manager of the Commerce Career Centre and Internship Program in the DeGroote School of Business and chairperson of Ontario Region. DiDiodato also was nominated for the Moe Ktytor Award of Merit, an award that recognizes exemplary contribution to the association by a CACEE member. This award is the highest honour that a member can receive within CACEE.
“I am honoured and thrilled that McMaster University has been awarded this prestigious national recognition,” says DiDiodato. “I applaud my colleagues in the various career centres across campus for their on-going efforts in advancing our school and our reputation for excellence in career services.”
In presenting the award Julie Khan, director of the Awards & Recognition Committee, announced: “This educational institution has always been a strong supporter of CACEE in every regard. They currently have nine members in CACEE. This University actively offers to contribute funds for any sponsorship needs. And they continue to show their support by offering to host CACEE meetings and events on their campus. With their CACEE involvement aside, McMaster has always shown flexibility and willingness to travel to share their resources and information with fellow colleagues.”
In 2003, 2004 & 2005 McMaster employees from Engineering Co-op & Career Services and the Commerce Career Centre were on the CACEE Board and led all McMaster initiatives with CACEE.
CACEE is a national non-profit partnership of 398 individuals representing Canada's key employer recruiters and university/college career services professionals. CACEE's mission is to provide authoritative information, advice, professional development opportunities and other services to employers, career services professionals, and students. In 2005, McMaster University representatives were proud to receive the Educational Institution Recognition Award.
