Marauders quarterback Kyle Quinlan and runner Katie Anderson have been named McMaster's male and female
athletes of the year.

Quinlan was honoured with the Ivor Wynne award and Anderson the Therese A. Quigley award Monday
afternoon at the University's 88th annual athletic awards ceremony, held at Burridge Gym.

South Woodslee, Ont.-native Quinlan led the Marauders football squad to its first Vanier Cup national
championship win in November. After passing for more than 3,000 yards and throwing 21 touchdowns over
nine games, Quinlan was named the Vanier Cup game's most valuable player. He was also recently named
Golden Horseshoe Athlete of the Year.

Anderson, a member of the cross-country team that captured provincial silver and national bronze medals, also
earned an Ontario University Athletics gold medal in the 1500-metre event. She served as anchor for the bronze
medal-winning 4×800-metre relay team and achieved All-Canadian status after earning silver medals in the
1000-metre and 1500-metre races at the national level.

“We're tremendously proud of what these and all our student-athletes have accomplished this year,” said Jeff
Giles, McMaster's director of athletics and recreation. “They have shown that, with hard work and determination,
great things are possible.”

The Dr. Ray Johnson and the Dr. Edna Guest awards, given to the graduating male and female student-athletes
who exemplify the “spirit of McMaster”, were awarded to men's soccer team captain Anthony Costa and
women's volleyball co-captain Meagan Nederveen.
