Thode Library of Science & Engineering is getting a new look starting this week. After several months of planning, preparation and discussions with the campus community, we're ready to start making some changes and improvements to your library.

A McMaster Facilities construction crew, led by Brian MacDougall, will start work on Wednesday, April 30.

Over the course of the next few months, a number of changes will occur on the first floor of Thode:

  • Outdated workstations will be replaced with state-of-the-art collaborative computing stations and multimedia pods
  • Study booths, similar to those you'd find at your local diner, will be included in the space
  • A cafe will be built along the east wall of the first floor with new seating, decor and a cozy fireplace
  • A new seating area with comfortable furniture and updated carpeting will be created
  • The research help office and circulation desk will be taken down and re-envisioned
  • Three new printer pods will be added near the computer workstations
  • The reference collection will be relocated to a different area of the first floor
  • Quick-use computer stations will be added close to the entrance of the library

To keep up-to-date on the changes and for more information on the project, read the Thode Renovation blog at thodereno.blog.lib.mcmaster.ca.

Come join us for a kick-off party and enjoy some delicious cake and thirst-quenching punch on Tuesday, April 29 on the first floor of Thode Library from 2 to 3 p.m.
