This #tbt is our favourite one of the year

Robyn Sifton, a third-year Geography and Earth Sciences student, was among the first to receive the McMaster 125 Bursary this year.

Two years ago today, McMaster’s Alumni Association asked the McMaster family to contribute to the 125 Bursary Challenge, in support of a bursary celebrating the University’s 125th anniversary.

In just two days, nearly 600 alumni and friends stepped up to support students in financial need.

This year, McMaster awarded the first of those bursaries.

Recipients included Robyn Sifton, a third-year Geography and Earth Sciences student and the first in her family to go to university.

Robyn pays her tuition and bills herself by working part-time, and the 125 Bursary helped her meet those responsibilities and make time to volunteer in the community.

That’s the kind of impact gifts to the 125 Bursary have and that’s why – on the anniversary of the Challenge – the Alumni Association is asking the McMaster community to help more students like Robyn.

On this #tbt (that’s Throwback Thursday), please consider making a gift to support students in need.

It’s a great way to honour McMaster’s history while preparing students for an even brighter future.
