'Growing Innovation' is the theme of the upcoming 2010 McMaster Innovation Showcase, and if past participation is any indication, this year's harvest should be plentiful.

The showcase, being held June 17 at McMaster Innovation Park, will focus on McMaster's many research centres, which act as innovation hothouses, and will give innovators the tools they need to be successful. It will also serve as a venue for McMaster, Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph's Healthcare researchers to meet each other, investors and researchers from industry and to share their innovation stories and lessons.

With its diverse mix of thought-provoking speakers, attendees will learn about the programs and resources that can help them be innovative, get a preview of the discoveries and inventions at McMaster that are ready to commercialize and meet the innovators who have successfully commercialized their ideas.

A poster competition will give faculty and students a second opportunity to present their work. The three best posters will receive prizes (first place $1,000; second $500; and third $250). Entries are now being accepted.

Nominations are also being accepted for the McMaster Innovator Awards, which encourage a culture of entrepreneurship within the McMaster community by recognizing successful commercialization.

The showcase is organized by the Office of the Vice-President (Research & International Affairs) and the McMaster Industrial Liaison Office (MILO).
