There’s a federal election on Monday. Here’s what you need to know

A federal election will be held on Monday, September 20 and polls will be open between 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Here’s what students and employees at McMaster need to know about voting day.

Students

Students can vote using the address they consider home, or where they ordinarily live. This can mean the address of your residence in Hamilton while studying at McMaster; or another permanent address of where you live when school is out.

For more information on candidates running in McMaster’s riding (Hamilton West – Ancaster – Dundas) and other resources for voting, check out McMaster Students Union (MSU)’s handy MacVotes2021 guide.

Employees

All employees who are eligible to vote are entitled to have three consecutive hours free from work during voting hours for the purpose of voting.

If your scheduled hours of work on Monday September 20 do not allow for three consecutive hours free from work between 9:30am and 9:30pm, you may ask your supervisor to grant time off from scheduled hours for voting.
