Now in its second year, Synergy is designed for students in or entering high school. In week-long sessions, students are immersed in a variety of experiential workshops and case competitions that help them develop business savvy and important life skills.

More than 130 high school students attended Synergy last year. DeGroote collaborated with industry partners, including RBC, Xerox, Small Business Enterprise Center and Ernest & Young.

“I personally think that a week at Synergy can be an eye-opening experience and I am extremely excited to share this opportunity with our students,” says Kelly Lambert, program coordinator for Synergy 2008.

Sessions are located within the DeGroote School of Business, and students have the opportunity to experience the School and its abundant resources. Students will learn how to be money smart and create wealth at the Gould Trading Floor, transform their business ideas into reality and effectively market a product. Another highlight is a trip to the GTA where students will engage with business executives and learn what it takes to be the leaders of tomorrow.

All workshops are led by DeGroote undergraduate students, professors and industry experts within their respective field. Week-long sessions will run throughout July and August. Registration has begun and is limited. For more information about Synergy, visit http://synergy.degroote.mcmaster.ca, e-mail synergy@mcmaster.ca or call 905-525-9140 ext. 21400.
