Members of the Task Force on Graduate Funding are inviting McMaster graduate students, staff and faculty to a town hall.

Scheduled for Wednesday, June 7 at 10 a.m., the town hall will take place in the Concert Hall at L.R. Wilson Hall. There is no registration required to attend this in-person event.

The town hall will be another valuable opportunity for the Task Force on Graduate Funding to hear directly from our campus community.

The task force is chaired by Steve Hranilovic, vice-provost and dean of graduate studies, and includes six students, six faculty associate deans and the Deputy Provost.

“The task force is working on a thorough exploration of graduate support across McMaster,” Hranilovic says. “That can only be achieved by including the voices of graduate students, faculty members and staff. I encourage everyone involved in graduate education at McMaster to attend.”

The town hall is part of the task force’s broader campus engagement plan, which includes a mix of town halls, group discussions (round table), surveys and online tools to ensure inclusive participation.

The event will start with a presentation by Hranilovic, who will provide an update on the task force’s work to date, including:

  • Highlights of the funding data collected
  • Key findings from the round table consultations and online submissions
  • Concerns and opportunities raised so far
  • Future plans for the task force on its course to produce a final set of recommendations

Following the presentation, graduate students, staff and faculty will be invited to ask questions from the floor as part of a 45-minute Q&A.

The graduate funding data and information received through the campus engagement plan, including at the town all, will be used to inform the task force’s final report with recommendations, which will be delivered to the Provost and to Graduate Council by the end of 2023.

At any time, graduate students, staff and faculty are invited to share with task force members their thoughts, comments and the questions they would like explored via a link on the homepage of the Task Force on Graduate Funding website.
