McMaster's campus will be a little greener this Thursday when the University marks its second annual Sustainability Day.

The day is meant to acknowledge the efforts and achievements made in developing a culture of sustainability at McMaster and will see a number of events happening across campus, including a sustainability fair and an IT equipment collection and exchange.

“McMaster has worked very hard to make its campus a more sustainable place,” said Kate Whalen, manager of University sustainability. “The day is a celebration that will highlight the accomplishments of so many groups on campus.”

A sustainability fair, to be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Student Centre Marketplace, will feature vendors from both on- and off-campus highlighting a number of sustainable initiatives. Organizations represented will include MACycle, MACgreen, the Hamilton Street Railway and Union Gas, among many others.

The IT equipment collection and swap, facilitated by the Office of Sustainability, University Technology Services and Facility Services, allows members of the McMaster community to recycle and reuse outdated technological devices from the University. The swap will take place under a green tent outside the Student Centre from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
