This year, McMaster is offering nine academic and athletic camps, including Mini-University, basketball, football, soccer, swim and volleyball camp.

The Competitive Edge Strength & Conditioning Camp is McMaster's newest summer camp. Geared towards children between the ages of 12 and 16 who play any kind of sport, participants will learn high performance training fundamentals and take part in McMaster's ALTITUDE team and leadership development program.

Mini-University is a two-week summer camp for children between the ages of nine and 14. Students will participate in self-directed learning in a variety of subjects from science and multimedia to drama and art. After receiving five to 10 minutes of instruction, students are encouraged to let their imaginations guide their learning experience. The camp includes swimming and outdoor activities.

Athletics & Recreation has been offering summer campus for more than 30 years. For more information, please visit www.athrec.mcmaster.ca/camps/. Registration is limited, but space is still available for the Competitive Edge Strength & Conditioning Camp, Mini-University and several other camps.

The Faculty of Engineering also offers summer camps, including the Venture Engineering and Science, Computer and Technology camp, which received the Hamilton Community News Readers' Choice Award for best summer camp this year. More than 1,000 students are enrolled in the camp. The Learning Enrichment Advancement Program, now in it's third year, introduces high school students to engineering through lectures, hands-on activities, labs, industry tours and projects.

To accommodate campers and their parents, the following parking and traffic management guidelines have been developed:

  • Parents will enter campus via Sterling Street. Parking or stopping on Mayfair or Forsyth while dropping off or picking up their children will not be permitted.
  • School buses transporting children to camp will enter and exit campus via Main Street. Buses will drop off and pick up campers on campus.
  • Parking attendants will be located at key points, including at the junction of Forsyth North and Mayfair to direct traffic entering campus via Sterling Street.
  • Signage will direct camp traffic to the appropriate entry and exit points.
  • Summer camps operate in two-week cycles. It may take a few days for parents to familiarize themselves with the parking and traffic guidelines. As always, your patience is greatly appreciated as we work to ensure a successful and safe camp season for students, their parents and the surrounding community.
