File photo. “]McMaster's summer camp programs for local children begin Monday June 29, 2009. Each year several thousand area children are able to enjoy the McMaster campus and engage in some summer fun and educational development.

“McMaster has a long tradition of hosting summer camps,” says Andrew Pettit, camps coordinator for Athletics & Recreation. “We welcome some 3,700 children from throughout the community each summer, and we work and play hard to deliver an exciting camp experience for all. While our facilities are second to none, it's our staff and their passion for kids that make our camps so special. We're definitely excited for another great summer!”

This year's camps include Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Competitive Swim and Aquatic Fun, The Competitive Edge, Mini-University, Sport Fitness School, and Junior Leadership as well as Synergy, through the DeGroote School of Business and the Venture and LEAP programs, through Engineering and Science.

Summer camps operate in two-week cycles. Experience has shown that it may take a few days at the beginning of each cycle for parents to familiarize themselves with the parking and traffic routing.

A police officer will be stationed at the intersection of Mayfair Crescent and Forsyth North, and an increased number of campus traffic marshals will guide parents and vehicles through campus.

As always, your patience is greatly appreciated as we work to ensure a successful and safe camp season for all stakeholders.
