Forget the canoe paddles and bug repellent: this summer a business idea will be the most important thing you can pack – at least if you're going to the Entrepreneurship @ McMaster University Summer Program.
An intense, one week course for people who are starting an entrepreneurial venture, the Entrepreneurship @ McMaster University Summer Program is intended to help participants plan a new venture and develop a business pitch. Featuring an international faculty of veteran entrepreneurs, the program blends lectures, workshops and one-on-one mentoring.
Participants bring a business idea to the program and spend the week developing it, with the goal of reaching the point where they are ready to launch the venture. A key part of the program is the mentoring sessions where a veteran entrepreneur works with the participant.
“Mentoring ensures that the education each participant receives uniquely matches their needs,” said Elsie Quaite-Randall, executive director of the McMaster Industry Liaison Office, which is overseeing the program with the Office of the Vice-President, Research and International Affairs. “It is our competitive advantage.”
The program is designed for mid-career professionals starting an entrepreneurial venture, corporate innovators creating new ventures within established companies and recent graduates and students with a concept they want to transform into a business. Enrollment is limited with a competitive application process.
Classes will be held at McMaster University in Hamilton Ontario, from July 18-24, 2010. Apply before May 1, 2010.
