Students supporting students

“If you could pass along a wellness tip to other students, what would it be?”

In the lead-up to Bell Let’s Talk day, that question was posted to the McMasterU Instagram community. An overwhelming 144 responses were collected, many sharing themes around sleep, food, fitness and personal time. On January 28, those were shared with the community.

On Bell Let’s Talk Day Canadians everywhere join in the global mental health conversation and directly drive Bell’s donations to Canadian mental health programs simply by participating. Bell donates 5 cents to Canadian mental health programs for every applicable text, local or long distance call, or social media post that incorporates the hashtag #BellLetsTalk.

Other initiatives by campus departments around the mental health awareness day include an Instagram takeover by the Student Wellness Centre (SWC) on the Student Success Centre account and an Instagram live Q&A discussion hosted by the Faculty of Engineering on mental health with SWC psychologist Nathan J. Cooper at 6 p.m. on January 28.

McMaster Sports teams are sharing their #BellLetsTalk mental health words of encouragement on social as well.
