Peter Martorelli and Andrew Lambert are among an exceptional group of 40 students who received the Provost's Medal last week for their perfect grades. Not only did Martorelli and Lambert achieve a 12.0 GPA, they did it more than once.

Martorelli, a fourth-year commerce student, has made the Provost's Honour Roll for the past three years.

“At times, I don't think the reality of my achievement has really set in,” said Martorelli. “I certainly wasn't expecting to go through my first three years of university with a perfect GPA, but years from now, I know I will look back with great pride on what I have accomplished.”

When Martorelli graduates this year, he won't be the only McMaster alumnus in his family. Both of his parents are also McMaster graduates.

“My entire university experience has been fantastic,” he said. “I have had the privilege of working with many outstanding individuals, both classmates and professors.”

Lambert, a third-year mechanical engineering student, has received the Provost's Medal two years in a row.

“I feel quite fortunate to have accomplished this two years running,” said Lambert, a Markham native. “With the engineering workload being fairly heavy, I'm usually just focused on trying to get everything done on time, so it's nice when the marks work out as well.”

In his spare time, Lambert writes for The Silhouette, McMaster's student newspaper.

“The best part of being a student here doesn't involve grades,” he said. “It's the things I get to dabble in outside of class, like being a TA for a first-year class and writing in the andy section of The Silhouette.”

Martorelli hopes to pursue post-graduate studies in business and law while Lambert plans on attending graduate school, finding a job or traveling.
