Organized by a number of campus groups, Frost Week is the cold weather alter-ego of September's Welcome Week. Combining winter fun with a showcasing of student clubs and organizations, Frost Week 2009 promises something for everyone.

“Frost Week is the result of a great deal of hard work on the part of a number of campus organizations,” says Azim Kasmani, president of the McMaster Students Union. “We've been meeting since October to make sure people have a great time this week, which I know they will.”

Some events to look forward to:

The Society of Off-Campus Students (SOCS) will host their annual Moonlight Skate at Coronation Arena, allowing students to skate together “under the stars.” The event runs from 11 p.m. until 1 a.m.

January 8 will see a “pros versus joes” competition, in support of McMaster Right to Play, with help from the Marauder basketball and fast pitch teams. Also, watch out for the storm at Quarters as Whiteout takes over the campus pub. The party includes prizes like a Sony Playstation 3 and a snowboard travel case, so be sure to get there early.

The MSU Olympics kick-off on January 9, pitting faculty versus faculty in a number of games and competitions. Later that night, the Marauder basketball teams will host a double-header beginning with the women's game at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8 p.m.

In partnership with Relay for Life, the McMaster Maroons will be hosting their Amazing Race on January 11. The race will feature 20 teams of five and will run until all teams have completed the race. Later that night will be the ever-popular SOCS formal dinner and dance, themed “SOCS in the City”.
