Some of McMaster’s most dedicated students were celebrated at the annual Student Recognition Night March 18.

The event is organized by the McMaster Students Union and recognizes the work of individual students and student groups with a number of awards.

The Honour M Award, the highest award the MSU bestows, was presented to fourth-year Health Sciences student Arnav Agarwal. A dedicated volunteer and enthusiastic member of the MSU, Agarwal has been involved with more than 25 campus and community organizations during his time at McMaster.

Among his many awards and achievements, Agarwal founded the McMaster chapter of the Canadian Red Cross; served as director of public relations for the World Wildlife Fund (McMaster chapter) and the Student Walk-Home Attendant Team; spent four summers as a volunteer healthcare worker in India; and received the Albert Lager Prize for Student Initiative in 2013.

McMaster President Patrick Deane presented the 2014 Honour M Award to Agarwal, and referred to him as a “natural campus leader” with a desire to make the most of every opportunity.
