SOTA presents pianist Alla Zacarelli

Photo by Susan Bubak.”]The last Celebrity Concert of the season will feature pianists Alla Zacarelli and Vera Danchenko-Stern along with the Gould String Quartet. The McMaster community is invited to join Zacarelli on a musical journey featuring the works of Rachmaninov, Gavrilin, Stravinsky and Dvorak.

Zacarelli studied with Dmitry Basch-Kiroff, attended master classes with Karl Ulrich Schnabel and is now an active performer and teacher.

She received an award for Excellence in the Arts from Wentworth Creative Arts Inc., performed throughout Russia, Europe and Canada, and has competed in several international competitions.

In addition to performing, she has also been a jury member for competitions in France, Spain and Canada. Zacarelli is also a faculty member at McMaster University.

To showcase her abilities as a chamber musician, Zacarelli will be joined by pianist Vera Danchenko-Stern, violinists Atis Bankas and Albina Molodozhan, violist Natasha Sharko and cellist Peter Cosbey.

The concert will take place in Convocation Hall, University Hall on Friday, March 28 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $17 for general admission, $12 for seniors and $5 for students. For more information, please call 905-525-9140, ext. 24246.
