“I have been extremely fortunate for being a part of McMaster Social Sciences and the Department of Kinesiology,” said Little, who accepted three scholarships, was named to the Provost's Honour Roll, Dean's Honour List and retained an entrance scholarship based on his academic achievement. “The combination of the outstanding academics and extracurricular activities has provided me with an extremely solid foundation of life skills that I will take with me wherever I go.”

Little was one of hundreds of social sciences students recognized Wednesday for their academic achievement. Recipients are registered in full- and part-time programs across all disciplines in the faculty and represent the academic top 10 per cent of the social sciences student body.

“Your success is a tribute to your hard work, natural abilities and the support of those around you,” said Peter George, McMaster President. “Like Jon, most of you are involved in extracurricular activities at the University, in the broader community or even both. I commend everyone who takes advantage of the opportunity to further enhance their education by participating in other interests whether it is through athletics, the Student Union, the variety of clubs and campus organizations, or community involvement outside the University. You are our future leaders and we hope that you are gathering the resources you need to excel in whatever path you take.”

Added social sciences dean Susan Elliott: “We take great pride in your academic achievements and we are sure you, your family and friends do as well. There are a number of faculty members from across the faculty present here tonight; chairs of departments, directors of programs and members of the Faculty Awards Committee. I know they join with me in extending their warm congratulations for your successes.”
