The conference will examine the climate change debate, promote practical solutions through education and motivate citizens to improve the state of our ecological health.

Speakers will include world-renowned Severn Cullis-Suzuki, former member of UN Secretary General Kofi Annan's Special Advisory Panel, lifelong environmentalist and David Suzuki's daughter.

Also speaking at the conference will be Dave Martin of Greenpeace, who will go head-to-head in a debate with climate-skeptic, Dr. Francis Manns, from Friends of Science. Manns will present evidence that challenges the premise of the Kyoto protocol and offer alternative causes for global climate change.

Lastly, Shawn Collins, a sessional lecturer at McMaster University, will present facts about global warming.

The conference will present both sides of the climate change debate to accommodate the views of experts who believe global warming is a natural phenomenon, irrespective of human activity.

“We want the audience to hear both sides of the argument: What the media does and doesn't tell you,” said Navneet Binepal, conference co-chair. “We want them to hear why Suzuki and Greenpeace think human activity and globalization is to blame and why Friends of Science thinks there's nothing to worry about.”

The conference will be held on Saturday, March 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Togo Salmon Hall, Room 120.
