The Kiyoshi Nagata Ensemble (taiko drums) will thrill audiences with a powerful performance as part of the McMaster University Celebrity Concerts on Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. in Convocation Hall, on the second floor of University Hall at McMaster University.

The Kiyoshi Nagata Ensemble has been thrilling audiences with its mesmerizing performances on taiko drums since making its debut at the Canada Council for the Arts National Showcase in 1998. Based in Toronto, the ensemble has been in frequent demand performing in theatres, concert halls, universities and major music festivals across Canada and the United States.

While firmly rooted in the folk drumming traditions found throughout Japan, the ensemble's principal aim is to rejuvenate and redefine this ancient art form, ensuring its relevance for the present. The ensemble, whose members come from Japanese as well as other diverse backgrounds, has produced challenging and dynamic works that seek to create a new voice for the traditional taiko.

The Kiyoshi Nagata Ensemble will enthrall you with their power and passion. Be sure to take this opportunity to see them in action here in Hamilton.
