McMaster's School of Graduate Studies is hosting an open house on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the McMaster University Student Centre.

The event will give prospective graduate students the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff and graduate students in their programs of interest as well as learn about student life at McMaster.

Last month, the provincial government announced $240 million in funding to increase the number of graduate students at Ontario universities. The funding will create 12,000 new graduate spaces by 2007-08 and another 2,000 by 2009-10.

As one of the top 100 universities in the world, McMaster aims to increase its graduate enrolment to 20 per cent of its total student population.
