School of Graduate Studies to host open house

McMaster's School of Graduate Studies is hosting an open house on Wednesday, March 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the McMaster University Student Centre.

This event will give prospective graduate students the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff and graduate students from select programs in Business, Engineering, Health Sciences and Science.

The open house will feature the following graduate programs:

Biology,

Business (MBA),

Chemistry,

Civil Engineering,

Computational Engineering and Science,

Computing and Software,

Electrical and Computer Engineering,

School of Engineering Practice (Engineering, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Engineering and Public Policy, Engineering Design),

Engineering Physics,

Mechanical Engineering,

Mathematics and Statistics,

Medical Sciences,

Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.

In September 2006, the provincial government announced $240 million in funding to increase the number of graduate students at Ontario universities. The funding will create 12,000 new graduate spaces by 2007-08 and another 2,000 by 2009-10.

McMaster aims to increase its graduate enrolment to 20 per cent of its total student population.
