Nearly 400 high school guidance counselors will converge upon McMaster today and
Thursday as part of a provincial meeting of guidance and liaison professionals.

Part of this year's Regional Dialogue events, McMaster is hosting this year's meeting of
counselors and liaison staff from high schools and universities across Ontario. The
meetings are designed to provide the guidance community with the opportunity to get
updates on new programs, admissions processes and policies, scholarships and
financial aid and student services at post-secondary institutions.

“It's a unique opportunity for all of this province's guidance and liaison professionals to
gather in one place to discuss all of the issues that affect them,” said Paula Johnson,
assistant registrar, student recruitment. “It's also an opportunity for university liaison
staff to hear the concerns of the guidance community, which allows us to refine our
practices to better serve their needs.”

The two-day event is happening in the Michael G. DeGroote Centre for Learning and
Discovery and Sports Hall in the David Braley Athletic Centre.

Other Regional Dialogue events are scheduled for the University of Western Ontario, the
University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Nipissing University and the University of
Ottawa.
