In that year, 76 unique individuals joined the McMaster University family.

These new employees, spread across the campus, had one thing in common: they would all work for McMaster for the next 25 years. It is unlikely these individuals were thinking ahead to the Quarter Century Club reception at that time.

On Wednesday, Dec. 5, McMaster University president Peter George welcomed these new employees into the Quarter Century Club at a reception and dinner held at CIBC Hall.

Among beautiful and festive surroundings, heartfelt words were spoken about each of the recipients and their unique contributions to the University over the past 25 years.

“All of you here this evening have devoted a good part of your lives to making McMaster a world-class teaching and research institution,” said George. “Our 76 recipients of tonight's award represent 1,900 years of accumulated wisdom, knowledge and experience. I have tremendous confidence in the experience that is embodied in those years. I am confident that McMaster will continue to address the current challenges we have been facing, with the dedication and expertise that is unique to the community.”

Each recipient was praised for their commitment and the importance of their role at the University over the past 25 years. All of the duties performed by the recipients have helped keep the University running smoothly.

The roles of the inductees ranged from teaching and research to administration and customer service to contributing to the safety on campus. Without each person's contribution, McMaster would not be the world renowned institution that it is today.
