The highly competitive fellowship sponsors top-notch, foreign scientists to spend extended periods of time working with German colleagues, and is awarded solely on the basis of the academic record of the recipients.
The fellowship grant will fund Koshy's work on the research and development of novel manufacturing technologies. He will be collaborating with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Fritz Klocke at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering, Rheinisch-Westfaelische Technische Hochschule (RWTH) in Aachen for 10 months starting this October.
The Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers is administered by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, a non-profit organization established by the Federal Republic of Germany for the promotion of international research cooperation. The Foundation maintains a network of about 23,000 Humboldtians in 130 countries, including 40 Nobel Prize winners.
Koshy currently serves on the editorial boards of several international journals, and is an elected member of the International Academy for Production Engineering.
