President’s Awards for Outstanding Service

University President Patrick Deane honoured a number of staff members at his first
President's Awards for Outstanding Service celebration Wednesday afternoon.

This year, 36 nominations for outstanding service were received, from which
eight individuals and two teams received awards. The staff of the MUSC Tim Hortons were
honoured with the Special Achievement Award.

“The nominees of these awards remind us that McMaster's strength is in its people,”
said Deane to the more than 200 people gathered in CIBC Hall. “To all nominees I offer
my congratulations and my gratitude for your commitment to helping McMaster achieve
excellence.”

Individual award recipients are Sharon Baptist (School of Nursing), Linda Benson (Athletics
and Recreation), Patricia Bilan (Integrated Science), Caroline Burgess (Faculty of Science),
Marcos Costa (Student Affairs), Nora Gaskin (Library) Lori Moulden (Alumni Advancement)
and Stanka Sakanovic (Facility Services).

Team winners included the Bachelor of Health Sciences program administrative team,
consisting of Teresa Basilio, Penny Losier and Andrea Phair, responsible for initiating,
promoting, supporting and developing one of the strongest university programs in
North America.

The team from the Student Success Centre, which includes fifteen staff, also received a
2010 award for its work integrating three distinct student services into one centralized
service delivery hub.
