They were joined by President Peter George and other distinguished guests to celebrate the extraordinary efforts of the nominees and recipients.

In his opening remarks, George said, “To each of you I extend my heartfelt thanks and congratulate you on your achievement. I also send my sincere thanks to all who made a special effort to write a nomination or supporting reference for these nominees. The nominations were truly outstanding this year, and I am certain that the Advisory Committee had a difficult time in selecting this year's recipients. These efforts and these results are a visible reminder to all of us of what we are capable of achieving in difficult times. They are proof for me — and proof for all of you — that the pursuit of excellence knows no boundaries and accepts no limitations.”

The President's Awards for Outstanding Service represents the highest honour the University can bestow upon its non-teaching employees. The annual awards program recognizes employees who are not faculty and are not members of senior management for their outstanding contributions to advancing the mission of the University. Since 1997, the program has recognized approximately 800 exceptional individuals and teams.
