Presidential search update

The Committee has issued the following update which includes the Position and Candidate Specification.
The Committee to Recommend a President, together with its search consultants, Spencer Stuart, has remained hard at work since the last update. The Committee was most gratified that 1600 responses were received to the on-line survey, 50% of which were from alumni, the remainder from faculty, students and staff. This is an excellent response rate and reflects the high degree of interest in this search.
The Committee has just finalised a Position and Candidate Specification for the President & Vice-Chancellor position. This document includes details about McMaster, the challenges and opportunities the new President will face, as well as the position summary and key selection criteria. The feedback obtained by the Committee from its meetings with internal and external groups, as well as the on-line survey responses, contributed significantly to this important document. A copy of the Position and Candidate Specification can be found here and will, of course, be posted on the Committee's website.
An advertisement inviting applications for the position will be placed in the Globe & Mail during June and will also be available on the University's website. A number of nominations and suggestions have already been received as a result of our internal information sessions and the Committee will review these in the weeks ahead.
