McMaster's Science convocation came to an abrupt end this afternoon following a power outage at Hamilton Place. The building managers asked everyone to leave the facility. The cause of the outage is not yet known.

While all the students have formally graduated, approximately 60 Bachelor of Science graduates had not yet crossed the stage to receive their degree when the lights went out.

Students who were not able to cross the stage will be invited to the fall convocation to ensure they don't miss the opportunity to enjoy the full convocation ceremony. They will be contacted by the University once the details of those arrangements have been made. Arrangements will also be made to have an electronic version of the valedictorian's address made available through the Daily News and the University's Facebook site.

Wednesday's convocation ceremonies are expected to continue on schedule. If any adjustments need to be made they will be communicated as early as possible on the Daily News and the University's Twitter feed and Facebook site.
