This Homecoming weekend, McMaster alumni will return to a very different campus.

One major change is the addition of the McMaster University Student Centre (MUSC). The long-awaited heart of campus will be home to two days of celebrations to thank students and donors, past and present, for their contributions to the project.

The MUSC and the McMaster Students Union (MSU) will be hosting a number of events on Friday. The MSU is sponsoring hourly draws starting at noon for students who pick up a special passport for the day. Once the passport is stamped at five MSU services, it can be entered into the draws.

Services located in the MUSC and the newly renovated space in Gilmour Hall will be holding open houses. Students and staff are encouraged to visit and see what services are available.

The day kicks off with a carnival in the MUSC plaza (outside Mills Library) at 10:30 a.m. with a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. at the entrance nearby.

At noon hour, visit the MUSC plaza and MUSC marketplace for a BBQ sponsored by Coca-Cola and free cake as a thank you for supporting the project.

A time capsule dedication will take place at 1 p.m. in the courtyard between Gilmour Hall and MUSC.

Students are encouraged to gather in the MUSC marketplace at 2 p.m. for a group photograph of as many students as possible to commemorate the occasion.

At 3 p.m. there will ceremonial lighting of the fireplace and the grand prize passport draw.

McMaster students will be treated to a free I Mother Earth concert, courtesy of the MSU, at Quarters starting at 9 p.m. Entrance will be permitted on a first-come, first-served basis.

On Saturday, festivities begin in the MUSC at 10:30 a.m. with a donor wall unveiling, official ribbon cutting and speeches by McMaster President Peter George and MSU president Evan Mackintosh.

The McMaster Marauders will take on the Laurier Golden Hawks at 2 p.m. at Les Prince Field. Click here for more information about the game.

Following the game, alumni are invited to tour the MUSC and stop by the marketplace for a piece of cake. Tours will start at the MUSC information desk.

There will be several reunions throughout the day. In the mezzanine of the Ivor Wynne Centre, there will be a gathering of the Class of 1992 and the Class of 1997 as well as music, food, face painting, 'MAC' the Marauder mascot and a bar. There are also reunions for those who played Marauder football during the 1932, 1942, 1952, 1962, 1972, 1982, or 1992 seasons. Several athletics reunions are also planned.

The Alumni Association is hosting a lunch for all the volunteers, and the Emergency First Response Team will be gathering on Saturday in the University Student Centre at 5 p.m. to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

On Sunday, the 19th Annual Hall of Fame celebration in the MUSC will honour eight new inductees. This year's inductees are:
