McMaster Marauders will make their seventh appearance in eight years in the Ontario universities baseball championship series after taking a doubleheader from third-seeded Waterloo Warriors.

McMaster shut out the visitors, 2-0 and 1-0, in the OUA semifinal series on Saturday.

In game one, McMaster got off to an early start when Hamilton native Brandon Schmidt led off the bottom half of the first with a solo home run.

Continuing with the hometown flavour, Andy Steeds' third-inning single plated Schmidt who had doubled.

Ancaster's Josh Krywionek picked up the mound decision with a complete-game shutout.

He gave up only three hits while striking out eight.

Game 1: McMaster 2 Waterloo 0

Game 2: McMaster 1 Waterloo 0

In game two, McMaster starter Aaron Gordon of Sunderland, Ont., improved on Krywionek's performance, taking a no-hitter into Waterloo's final at bat and with two outs in the seventh.

Warrior Chris Dietrich blooped a base hit over the right side of the Marauder infield to spoil the no-hitter, but Gordon finished the day with a complete-game shutout, striking out three while walking only one.

McMaster's game-winning run came in the first inning when Steeds scored from second on a ball hit by Jeremy Paikin of Dundas.

The Marauders will play the winner of the Brock-Toronto semifinal series. The finals will be played on Oct. 11-12. The winner of the series will determine who gets homefield advantage.
