Each year, the McMaster Summer Institute on Gerontology attracts health care practitioners, academics, and the general public with an informative and topical array of sessions related to aging.

In 2004, the 21st annual Summer Institute on Gerontology is no different. The first session, which is offered May 10 and 11, focuses on diversity and aging, and addresses the challenges, opportunities, and models for supporting older adults of different cultural backgrounds.

Other sessions that are held throughout May and June focus on Care Management with Older Adults (May 12-14), Innovative Approaches to Caregiving (May 31-June 1), and Geriatric Mental Health and the Law (June 2-3).

One of the highlights of the Institute is the annual Karl Kinanen Public Lecture. Harry R. Moody, director of the Institute for Human Values in Aging, International Longevity Centre, New York City will present this lecture Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at 7 p.m. in the McMaster University Student Centre, CIBC Hall, Third Floor. The author of the best selling book Five Stages of the Soul, Moody will be giving a talk entitled Stages On Life's Way: The Spiritual Journey.
