Posted on May 31: Canadian musicians Daniel Lanois and Jeff Healey among honorary degree recipients at McMaster Spring Convocation

Canadian musical icons Daniel Lanois and Jeff Healey, former federal cabinet minister The Honourable Lloyd Axworthy, and astronaut Julie Payette, the first Canadian to board the International Space Station, are among the distinguished recipients who will be given honorary degrees at McMaster University's Spring Convocation ceremonies.
These prominent Canadians will share words of wisdom, and music, with members of McMaster's 2004 graduating class of more than 3,000 students during convocation ceremonies to take place June 2 to 4 at the Great Hall, Hamilton Place.
The honorary degree recipients are honoured for their contributions in areas such as public service, education and scholarship, creative
and performing arts and the McMaster community. (The asterisk denotes Convocation speaker or performer.)

Convocation ceremonies for Divinity College and the Faculty of Health Sciences were held in May.
At Divinity College convocation on May 11, Canadian Christian education pioneer Henry De Bolster and president of the Women's Department of the Baptist World Alliance Audrey Morikawa received honourary Doctor's of Divinity.
At Health Sciences convocation on May 14, His Highness Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al-Qassimi, the Ruler of Sharjah received a Doctor of Laws and former dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Jack Laidlaw, received a Doctor of Science.
