“We aim to raise consciousness and hear the voices of people who are traditionally marginalized based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion, class, sexuality, able-bodiness, and age,” says fourth-year philosophy student Helen Tewolde, a co-founder of MacWin who is helping organize the conference.

The conference will cover topics ranging from women and health, women in leadership, technology and economic development, women in media, women in migration, to gender and sexuality and women in sports.

To find out more about the conference and to register, visit the MacWin Web site or e-mail macwin@mcmaster.ca

MacWIN is a student-run organization that attempts to raise awareness of women's issues at a local, national and international level.

“As well as working towards positive social change both on campus and, by extension, in the local and global communities, the long-term goals of MacWin include connecting with other socially aware groups in the Hamilton community and building a collection of women's issues resources for students on campus,” says Gender Matters! organizing committee member Heather Millar.
