More than 1200 people attended two sold-out performances at the old Tivoli theatre in downtown Hamilton recently for the fourth annual undergraduate engineering students' musical.

This year's theme was drawn from Les Miserable, with the production aptly titled Les Enginerables.

Students displayed their musical, dance and theatrical abilities in this year's full-scale musical production.

Creativity began with the development of a musical parody based on original dance and music scores that were choreographed and arranged to complement the creative lyrics. Lyrics from Aladdin's Prince Ali were converted to accommodate engineering dean Mo Elbestawi who was fondly portrayed as a French Mafia gangster. This was one of a dozen of satirical songs.

Building on past performances of “Jopko the Amazing Technicolor Vectorspace”, “West Quad Story” and “The Wizard of Eng”, this year's performance was without a doubt a sensation. Two buses were filled to capacity to transport students from campus to downtown for each performance.

On top of a full academic workload, this gifted group has undertaken a seven-month commitment to create this amazing showcase illustrating the diverse talent of McMaster engineering students.

Fourth-year engineering physics & management students Aaron Klassen and Kim Atkinson were the masterminds behind this year's show.
