The McMaster cheerleading team captured the Ontario
University Cheerleading Championship at Brock University this past
weekend.

McMaster won the event by a mere 0.5 points out of 600 to win the
title.

McMaster is the first Ontario University team, other than The
University of Western Ontario to win the event in the history of the
competition.

McMaster will compete in the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA)
U.S.A Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida March
31 to April 4, 2004.

McMaster is only the second Canadian school ever to participate (The
University of Western Ontario was the first). McMaster is the only
Canadian school participating in 2004.

The McMaster fencing team also captured gold in the Ontario University
Athletics (OUA) Fencing Championship held at Royal Military College
(RMC) in Kingston.

The McMaster women's sabre team won OUA gold. Kathryn Pierrynowski
won an OUA individual gold medal in Sabre after dominating the field all weekend.

The Women's epee and foil teams each won OUA bronze.
