posted on March 13: Students recognize teaching excellence at McMaster

Some of McMaster's most outstanding professors will be recognized March 20 for their contribution to undergraduate education.

The McMaster Students' Union teaching awards committee is holding its 19th annual awards ceremony, in which one professor from each faculty/program is presented with the MSU Faculty Award for Teaching. The ceremony will take place Wednesday, March 20 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Convocation Hall.

In addition to the awards presentations, this year's MSU Teaching Awards ceremony features two keynote speakers, Acting President Peter Sutherland and Marie Bountrogianni, representative for Hamilton Mountain at Queen's Park and Liberal critic for the universities and colleges ministry.

Other awards that are presented at the ceremony include the MSU Merit Awards for new professors, along with the prestigious MSU Lifetime Achievement Award for Teaching. Last year's winner of this award was biology professor George Sorger who has made numerous contributions to the academic and student communities of McMaster.
