McMaster President Peter George recently provided an update to the University community that the search has begun for a new sexual harassment and anti-discrimination officer. The person replaces Cindy Player, who has taken on a new position at the City of Hamilton as a human rights consultant.

A selection committee, chaired by Jane Aronson, professor of social work, has been appointed to lead the search. In the interim, Jane Mulkewich has agreed to take on the role of acting sexual harassment and anti-discrimination officer.

Mulkewich joined the University in June 2002 as a human rights educator in the Sexual Harassment and Anti-Discrimination Office. She previously worked with the Hamilton Police Service for eight years as the anti-racism and anti-discrimination officer.

“We wish Cindy well in her new job and thank her for the tremendous contributions she made in making McMaster a more inclusive and welcoming community for students, staff and faculty,” George said.
