McMaster University's Venture Engineering and Science was awarded the 2004 Actua Best Project Award on June 8 for a project that is educational, fun, and well designed. Venture competed in Halifax, Nova Scotia against 26 other engineering and science camps across Canada with its Electronic Roadster 2000mm project.

The Electronic Roadster 2000mm, designed to be used in Venture's Computer and Technology summer camp program, is a metal track that has a small current flowing through it. Children design cars that contain two motors that they wire themselves. The cars are able to run on the electronic track teaching them about electricity, conductivity, and engineering design.

Actua members are brought together twice a year to share ideas and inspiration with each other and together reach more than 225,000 youth per year. Actua provides training, resources and support to a national network of local organizations offering science and technology education programs.

The Venture Engineering and Science Program is a non-profit program run by undergraduate engineering and science students at McMaster University in Hamilton Ontario. Venture's mandate is to introduce children to the exciting worlds of engineering, science and technology in a fun, interactive and innovative manner. The program offers classroom workshops, summer day camps, teacher workshops, and participates at many community events.
