Old friends will meet, memories will be shared and new friendships established during McMaster's Alumni Weekend.

The marquee will be the site for the annual general meeting of McMaster's Alumni Association on Sunday afternoon. It's also the spot where alumni can check in for a campus tour on Saturday afternoon to reminisce with other graduates while strolling through campus.

On Saturday, classes who graduated in 1936, 1941, 1946, 1951 and any graduates from 1933 and before will gather for the President's Luncheon. Science graduate Martin Johns, Class of 1933, will be the oldest graduate present. The Classes of 1936 and 1941 will hold receptions after the luncheon.

The first residents of Matthews Hall will be recognized at the Matthews Founders Event. The residence was opened in 1965 and the original residents who graduated in 1965 through 1970 will gather to exchange memories over lunch. Graduates from 1956 and 1961 will also gather to remember their time at the University during a luncheon event.

An induction ceremony will be held Saturday afternoon in Convocation Hall for inductees to the Alumni Gallery. The 2001 inductees uphold the standards of excellence that have been set by their predecessors. They exemplify how McMaster alumni positively contribute to all aspects of society. Every one of the more than 250 graduates in the Gallery has a story worth sharing and accomplishments to make the entire McMaster community proud.

This year's inductees are: Julia Alleyne, Marta Dvorak, Margaret “Boggs” Ewart, Delsworth Harnish, Kevin G. Lynch, Bryan Massam, Ronald E. Materick, James Orbinski, Barna Szabados, Mabel Taylor (posthumously) and Mary Anne White.

After the ceremony, all alumni are invited to the President's Garden Party which will be held in the tent behind University Hall from 4 to 4:30 p.m..

Grads who would like to join fellow alumni at the garden party can register by calling 905-525-9140 (ext. 23900) or e-mailing alumni@mcmaster.ca.
