The race is on!

The election race for president of the McMaster Students Union officially
started at 9 a.m. on Monday.

Six candidates are vying for the top elected spot in the MSU. The president
acts as the chief executive officer and chief spokesperson for the McMaster
Students Union, which represents more than 12,000 undergraduate students at
McMaster. The term of office for this full-time position is from May 1, 2001 to
April 30, 2002 and candidates must have been MSU members in good standing
for at least four months prior to the nomination period.

This year's candidates are: Neville Boney, Lisa Cunha, Steve Ewoniak, Sam
Minnitti, Derrick Morgan and Chris Potter.

Debates are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 1 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30
p.m. in the Commons cafeteria and Monday, Feb. 5 from 12:30 p.m. to
1:30 p.m. in the Hamilton Hall Blue Lounge.

Most polling stations will be open from 9:20 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday,
Feb. 6 and 9:20 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

Voting will take place at the following locations: Commons Lobby, MGD Lobby,
JHE Lobby, CNH (by Starbucks), Health Sciences Centre (2nd floor by Library
entrance), Ivor Wynne Centre (by Burridge Gym) and Gilmour Hall (across from
bookstore).

Extended hours polling stations will be open from 9:20 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, Feb. 6, and 9:20 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at
the Burke Science Building, Mills Library and Thode Library.
