Parents, friends, professors and donors gathered in Convocation Hall at the end of January to celebrate the achievements of a fine group of
humanities students who have excelled academically over the past year.

More than 200 students were honoured, including those named to the
Provost's and Dean's Honours Lists, McMaster Scholars and recipients of academic and awards generously provided by benefactors.

Grace Chu, a fourth-year music student and winner of the 2003 Bedford Medal for Piano Performance performed at the ceremony, and the guest speaker was associate vice-president academic Fred Hall.

Fourth-year music and communication studies student, Michelle Kushnir, gave the student address. During her time at McMaster, Kushnir has combined academic excellence with active involvement in campus life, and is currently vice-president of the McMaster Humanities Society as well as the driving force behind the “Arts Matter” campaign.
