More than 200 colleagues from across campus attended, in an effort to better acquaint themselves with HRS team members, and learn more about the services and resources available to McMaster employees and retirees.

The Feb. 24 event included displays from various units within the department, including Environmental and Occupational Health Support Services; Employee/Labour Relations; Employee Work-Life Support Services; Human Resources Intranet/Payroll Project; HRS Area Offices (Campus Services, Health Sciences, and the University Libraries); and Organization Performance & Working at McMaster'.

Michael Ouellette (on the HR Employee/Labour Relations team) introduced attendees to 17 new HRS colleagues who have joined the department since January 2002. The department has restructured, taken on units previously reporting differently, and re-focused on excellence in service to partners and stakeholders in the McMaster community. Ouellette noted the important “bridge from the department's history to its new directions” provided by nine employees who joined HRS before 1990.

“Human Resources Services is committed to working harder than ever to advance the mission of the University and to help to build an inclusive community with a shared purpose,” said Ouellette. He said HRS continues to seek partnerships with stakeholders to achieve mutual objectives through employee involvement, innovation, and excellence in human resource management practices.

Assistant vice-president Mark Haley said he was pleased with the response to the meet and greet' event. “The displays communicated effectively what our various teams are working on with their partners across the campus, and the services we provide,” he said. “I saw lots of discussion and feedback occurring. This event exemplifies our on-going commitment to provide exceptional service and advice, and to develop strong customer service relationships with our clients for the benefit of all our stakeholders within the McMaster community.”
