Pianist Jane Coop is consistently receiving international acclaim for her sensitive, lyrical, intelligent and deeply affective playing.

Coop's profoundly satisfying interpretations of the world's great piano literature have been exciting audiences worldwide, and her visit to Hamilton will include selected works from some of the most respected composers of all time.

The performance will begin with Haydn's Sonata No. 55 in B-flat major HOB XVI:41, followed by Beethoven's Sonata No. 15 in D major, Op.28 “Pastoral,” as well as Brahms' Variations on a theme of Paganini, Op. 35, Bk.II.

To complete the performance, Coop will play all of the 24 Preludes op.28 by Frederic Chopin. A true artistic challenge, both technically and musically, she will use Chopin's preludes as a means to uncover the true potential of the piano from its most delicate sounds to its boldest capabilities.

A former pupil of Anton Kuerti and Leon Fleischer, a multiple Juno nominee, and a recognized recording artist and performer, Coop has performed in such international cities as New York, London, Prague and Tokyo.

Coop's Hamilton performance will take place Friday, Feb. 27 at 8 p.m. in McMaster's Convocation Hall. Regular admission is $17 or $12 for seniors and students. For tickets call the McMaster School of the Arts box office at 905-525-9140 ext. 23333, or pay at the door subject to ticket availability.
