The 2003/2004 McMaster Celebrity Concerts season resumes in the new year with a concert by star mezzo-soprano Judita Leitaite on Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. in Convocation Hall at McMaster University.

This Lithuanian vocalist has an impressive resume, winning the M. Glinka vocal competition in Baku (1987) and International competition in Finland (1990).

Leitaite has toured Poland, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, Russia, Israel, South Africa and U.S.A. She also performs regularly throughout her native Lithuania. Leitaite is on demand, not only does she perform on the main concert stages, but also on various radio and TV programs, schools, churches, benefit concerts, jazz concerts and religious events.

Her concert at McMaster University will feature a variety of works from composers such as Faure, Sibelius, Grieg, Tchaikovsky and Ravel.

Leitaite will be accompanied by pianist Leokadha Paul-Kanovich, an accomplished performer and a member of the piano faculty at McMaster University and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
