Posted on Feb. 16: McMaster wins OUA women’s waterpolo championship

[img_inline align=”right” src=”http://padnws01.mcmaster.ca/images/Waterpolo.jpg” caption=”Women’s waterpolo team”]The McMaster women's waterpolo team captured the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) championship this past weekend at the McMaster pool.

The Marauders defeated the Queens University Golden Gaels in the gold medal game 14-4. Hamilton's Christina Neumann led the Marauders with four goals.

McMaster finished the season undefeated with a 17-0 record regular season and 4-0 OUA championship. The Marauders have gone 39-0
and outscored opponents 138-47 during the regular season over the last four years.

Second-year medical student, Christine Walton earned the Roy Gunell
Most Valuable Player award. Katie Hill, Christina Neumann and Rachel
Crozier were awarded Tournament All-Star selections.

The OUA All-Star awards were also handed out at a banquet on Saturday
evening. McMaster's Jessica Wells and Katie Hill received a First Team selections. Christina Neumann and Laura Hendrie were named to the OUA Second Team.

In the bronze medal game, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues
battled back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Carleton Ravens 7-6.
